The 7 Roadblocks That Stop Most People — and How to Beat Them

"Fitness isn’t about perfection. It’s about showing up, learning, adjusting, and taking small steps forward—over and over again."

These 7 roadblocks are critical for you to understand, learn, and grow from to reach your desired potential. Life would be too simple if we only made forward progress. When something doesn’t quite go our way we need to adapt and adjust. To get any meaningful result you'll have to get through the valley of disappointment. You have to trust the process and focus on making small daily improvements.

Results are not linear

Two steps forward, one step back and sometimes in reverse. This is the natural process to learn and improve anything. Life would be all too simple if only we made forward progress. When something doesn’t quite go our way we need to adapt and adjust. The quicker we can adjust the faster we get what we want. To get any meaningful result you'll have to get through the valley of disappointment. You simply have to trust the process and focus on making small daily improvements. Figure out why you want this and make it a part of your daily lifestyle.

I’m not a gym person

I’m not a gym person. Fair enough, me neither. I’d rather play outside all day. However, the gym is the place where we add balance from your sport, recreation or job. The mindset of what happens in the gym needs to switch. The time you invest in the gym should feel like a deposit not a withdrawal. It should give you energy when walking away to work or play. If your goal is the gym then that’s a different story and why we have sports like Olympic Weightlifting, Powerlifting, Strongman, Gymnastics, and CrossFit.

Our goal is not to be competitive in these disciplines, but to:

  • Play outside more
  • Prevent injury
  • Get stronger
  • Move better
  • Create healthier joints, tendons, and ligaments
  • Feel less or no pain while we play or work.

Not measuring your efforts

What you measure improves. One of the simplest habits to help you be consistent in whatever your goal, is to track your activity on a day to day basis. Grab your favorite calendar or app and write down what you are trying to improve. Once I discovered and implemented this little habit my results and consistency shot through the roof.

Being consistent will yield you the greatest results in any endeavor.

This isn’t a break through secret. So why is it so challenging to be consistent?  Because we don’t measure and track our efforts. When we write it down and visually see our efforts it gives us clarity, focus and significance.

Aches and pain will stop you

I’ll teach you how to manage painful movement patterns either by changing how you perform the movement causing pain or by teaching you self maintenance skills (soft tissue work to address stiff, over active and painful tissues).
